About Me

Born in Jamaica but raised in London, Wes has been steeped in music almost since birth. He was taken to Pentecostal church from a baby, which gave him an early appreciation of the sung word and its power. It's a passion which has never left him. He took up jazz guitar aged 11, joining his first band at 13. He continued to perform in soul and gospel bands for over a decade, writing and performing his own material and winning major label song writing contracts along the way. Moving into production and artist management seemed a natural step, and gave him an insight into the behind-the-scenes music business. His radio career began when he was asked to be a guest on a radio chat show. He was a natural - Wes loves to chat almost as much as he loves music - and he was rapidly given his own show.

For his Monday evening "Midnight Encounter" show, Wes seeks out 'future classics', the best of the newest ballads, slowjams and mellow grooves which we'll all be listening to for years to come, as well as little known gems from yesteryear which deserve another airing. Wes says: "Love songs and slow jams have always been one of my favourite styles of music. The song writing in a classic love song has to be perfect and the music timeless – when this is achieved its irresistible!"

The Sunday afternoon "Soul Food" show, is the midday – 3pm show which plays the best of the latest mid-tempo and classic urban jamz. The show is for listeners who are looking for a mellow but funky accompliment to them chillin' on a Sunday afternoon.

Wes encourages listeners to phone in or email. The show appeals to a discerning, international audience. There is a "listen back" feature on the Colourful Radio website which enables listeners to listen to programmes at a time which is best for them.
