Maria Morgan Maria Morgan
Executive Director of Kineara, an award winning community interest company which delivers specialist support programmes for people in need.

03/07/2019 11AM | GUEST | Sonia Poleon

Maria Morgan has been working within the care and community sector for over 20 years in different capacities: as a Youth Worker, Child Counsellor, Mentor, Consultant, Teaching Assistant, Family intervention practitioner and Social Worker. Maria has a Diploma in Social Work, a Degree in Social Care and Social Care Studies and a Diploma in Systemic Supervision for Multiple Contexts. She also has a CMI Level 7 Extended Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership.

Maria has always had a passion for working with vulnerable people living in the community and developing programmes that will enable people to feel supported when facing challenging times in their lives, whether these challenges developed through internal or external factors.

Maria describes her best career experience when she left her secure statutory Social Work job to work for a 1 year project called the Family Intervention Project in the borough of Tower Hamlets. This experience taught Maria how to work in partnership with clients to support meaningful change. Through the ethos of this work the concept of Kineara born and in 2012 she founded Kineara.

Kineara is an award winning community interest company which delivers specialist support programmes for people in need. Kineara’s programmes are designed to be holistic, intensive, systemic and strength-based in their approach to working with people and their families. We work with people facing challenges in housing, education and employment, and the fundamental aim of all of Kineara’s programmes is to look at the underlying issues behind the present challenges they face. For example, a tenant might be threatened to be evicted because of unpaid rent, but the root cause behind the rent arrears is what we address, so that the changes we support are sustained for longer.

Kineara programmes have been designed from Maria’s own professional and personal experiences.

Quote from Maria: “It’s was important to me as the Director to have the knowledge and experience of working with people who were deemed the most vulnerable in our society. Then use these experiences to empower and support Kineara practitioners to effectively impact the community or people we have been privileged to engage with to achieve meaningful and sustainable outcomes.
