About Me
Prior to becoming an MP and making history as Britain’s first African-Caribbean Minister in the House of Commons, Dawn Butler started her career as a computer programmer/Systems Analyst, she then became a civil servant, a manager in the employment service. Her desire to represent Brent came from a desire to address inequality. Becoming the first elected Black female government minister is an historic step but she has only just begun her Journey.
Dawn has continued her journey through media, consultancy and voluntary work. As one of the countries most influential Black women Dawn has an insight into how to deliver policy and how to get unheard voices heard. One day we hope to see Dawn back in Parliament and possibly the first Black female Prime Minister.
