Ruth Ferguson, founder of Salsa Naturally Dance Academy for children and adults. Ruth has been teaching salsa to adults for 15years and children for 10 years. Ruth came across Salsa some 25 years ago, when a friend invited her to a salsa party at the Loughborough club aka Mambo Inn in Brixton. She fell in love with it straight away. The fiery music and the freedom it gives you to express yourself on the dance floor. It makes you feel happier, full of energy and 10 years younger! Ruth caught the "Salsa Bug" and travelled all around London and beyond in search of salsa club, hse couldn't get enough of salsa and use to dance nearly every night of the week. Back then Salsa clubs were few and far between, not like now.
Ruth went on to train as a Salsa Dance teacher and qualified as IDTA dance teacher. She was fortunate enough to be sponsored by Sports England to teach 300 young people between the ages of 11 and 25 years old to salsa dance in a campaign to get this age bracket more active.
Ruth also trained children to championship level in Europe. The children (The kids of Salsa Naturally) won many trophies over a period of 10 years. Those were very exciting years.
