Gary Edwards Gary Edwards
Dancing with the Stars’ all Access judge Gary Edwards is one of the world most talented and qualified dance judges and the Arthur Murray Dance studios brand ambassador.

30/07/2018 11AM | GUEST | Sloan Sheridan-Williams

Dancing with the Stars’ all Access judge Gary Edwards is one of the world most talented and qualified dance judges and the Arthur Murray Dance studios brand ambassador. He is a World Class Judge/Adjudicator in Ballroom and Latin American styles, a qualified World Class Judge in American styles, and a qualified World Class Judge for Salsa, Freestyle and Rock and Roll.

Dancing since the age of seven when his mother encouraged him to take his first steps, Gary has won over 30 international dancing titles, including the British Open Ballroom and the British Open Latin and is one of the most qualified dance judges in the world having judged 47 World Championships.

Gary’s credentials stretch far and wide and, after being tipped to replace Len Goodman as head judge on Strictly Come Dancing last year, it’s no surprise he has danced professionally in 60 countries, and has appeared on several TV productions, including BBC Dirty Dancing and BBC Come Dancing. He has coached and/or danced alongside superstars and world leaders, including the prime minister of India and several Malaysian sultans. A highlight of his career was the privilege of serving a six-year commission as private advisor to the Royal Family of Brunei during which time he taught the King of Pop Michael Jackson the Cha-Cha-Cha and has also given lessons to legends like Janet Jackson, Barry White, Whitney Houston and MC Hammer and many other music stars.

Dubbed the ‘Ballroom Giant’ because of his 6ft 4 inches frame, Gary - who has homes in both Miami Beach and Essex - is back in the UK campaigning to get Britain dancing. He has enlisted Arthur Murray Dance Studios and Arthur Murray UK, as well as some of his celebrity dance friends, to help promote the benefits of dancing and will be travelling around the country judging competitions as well as visiting schools, residential care homes and disabled groups to showcase the social and lifestyle benefits of dance as well as the physical and mental health benefits it can bring. Arthur Murray are the leading dance brand in the world with 260 studios and in 22 countries across the globe.

An accomplished amateur polo player, Gary was privileged to learn from Argentine players who are among the best in the world. He has coached several world-class professional polo players, and he himself earned a 2 handicap rating as a member of the Brunei Bandits polo team while on commission to the Royal Family.

Gary supports local causes in South Florida and the UK. Most recently, he has accepted the role as 2014 Patron of the WDSA/UK Wheelchair DanceSport Association, because he believes that the joy of dance should be available to all.
