The Bright Star Awards annually recognises and celebrates the best in UK and international Soul and Reggae music.

The founder of the Bright Star Awards is Sly, presenter of 'Soul & Reggae Sundays' on Colourful Radio, the UK's largest African Caribbean owned commercial radio network.

Following on from the hugely successful Bright Star Awards 2018; the date of Sunday 26th January 2020 is set for the Bright Star Awards 2019 Gala Showcase.

The second live staged Bright Star Awards 2018 winners included:

Best Live Experience: Don-E (Hideaway Streatham)
Best Reggae Single: Freddie McGregor – Go Freddie Go – VP Records
Best Reggae Album: Beres Hammond – Never Ending – VP Records
Best Soul/R&B Single: The Groove Association feat. Georgie B & Deborah Bell – Dancing In Heaven – GAB Records
Best Soul/R&B Album: Robb Scott – Siren – Expansion Records
Best Rising UK Artist: Ella Mai
Best International Artist: Nao Yoshioka
Best Female Artist: Natasha Watts
Best Male Artist: Tony Momrelle
Lifetime Achievement: Jaki Graham

The winners are a stellar line up of amazing talent. Indeed all the artists and nominees are fantastic talents, however there can only be one winner per category.

Jaki Graham (Bright Star Awards 2018) and Leee John (Bright Star Awards 2017) have the well deserved accolade of being Lifetime Achievement winners in the UK's most unique music awards - Bright Star Awards, which recognises and celebrates the best in UK and international Soul and Reggae music.

During 2019, Lifetime Achievement Award winner Jaki Graham has performed at 'Respect: The Aretha Franklin Songbook' and 'Sisters Of Soul' to name just two live events. A Yam Who? remix of her single ‘Sometimes’ has also been released on Friday 18th October 2019.

For Bright Star Awards 2019, there is two additional brand new categories 'Best Music Venue' and 'Best Music Publication'. By popular request 'Best Band/Group' will also be coming back for the first time since Bright Star Awards 2016.

Bright Star Awards 2019 is in partnership with Colourful Radio (www.colourfulradio.com) and is sponsored by Westerhall Rums UK (www.westerhallrums.co.uk), Island Delight (www.island-delight.co.uk) and The Africa Centre (www.africacentre.org.uk).
