"In the lead up to the 100th anniversary of Nelson Mandela's birth on 18th July 2018, The Africa Centre & Colourful Radio are delighted to be honouring the legacy of Nelson Mandela by hosting an evening of music, dance & poetry celebrating the culture of Africa and its diaspora. The evening is presented by Union Dance and Karina H Maynard as part of the Nelson Mandela 100 Centenary Programme."

Welcome by Kenneth Olumuyiwa Tharp CBE, Director of The Africa Centre & Kofi Kusitor MBE, Founder of Colourful Radio.
From Afrobeat to Soul, Hip Hop and Jazz Funk, Colourful Radio DJs Jazzi Q, Pete Mello & Sammy Sam will provide uplifting, energetic rhythms throughout the night.
Union Dance presents original Contemporary Afro dance performances by choreographer Sarita Piotrowski. Set to a hypnotic South African soundtrack, Sarita and Afro dance specialist Ofelia Omoyele Balogun will perform alongside South African poet Leeto Thale to honour Madiba through unique and dynamic presentations.

About Reflection Route 2018:
2018 marks the centenary of the birth of Nelson Mandela. To celebrate, Union Dance and Karina H Maynard present Reflection Route 2018 - a summer programme of music, dance, digital, workshops & talks to celebrate the legacy of visionary leader Nelson Mandela.
Featuring 21st century artists, performers, entrepreneurs & thinkers, the programme explores how the next generation of cultural leaders are using creativity, tech, entrepreneurship & personal power for positive social change.
Events and workshops will take place at The Africa Centre, Urdang Academy & The British Museum as part of the official Nelson Mandela 100 Centenary Programme.

Union Dance presents Reflection Route - Dynamic Contemporary Afro dance performances featuring spoken word by South African wordsmith Leeto Thale, set to a driving African rhythms.

'Reflection route: inspired leadership in the 21st century'
Exploring Mandela's legacy in 2018, a diverse panel of cultural leaders discuss vision, representation, creativity and entrepreneurship for positive social influence. Introduced by artist and former British Museum Curator of African art Chris Spring, and chaired by journalist, broadcaster and Muntu Arts Editor Karina H Maynard.
